Portfolios > RECENT WORK: RELICS AND RELIQUARIES

3/4 View Shows chalk powder residue.
This sculpture has as its star an antique carpenter's or mason's chalk line still filled with its original powder. The lettering on it reads: Eastman's Always Ready Chalk Line. Its function is to determine and indicate a vertical reference line. It is normally used for construction purposes. Inside of the reliquary box I snapped the line to demonstrate its function.
The design of the reliquary reflects the materials, shape and patina of the chalk line.
