3/4 Detail View:The wood case for this 19th c. thermometer was the reason I purchased the thermometer. The shape, wood and patina of the lovely case influenced the build-out design of the entire reliquary with the exception of the brass orchid repoussé which was influenced by the thermometer. The orchid symbolizes a natural, organic element that needs warmth and humidity to flourish.
